Why Juneberry?
The name Juneberry holds a special place in my heart. As a child, I spent countless summer days picking juneberries (ozigwaakominag) with my grandmother—an experience deeply rooted in my Ojibwe heritage. Gathering berries is more than tradition; it’s a practice of connection, reciprocity, and respect for the gifts of the land. We'd fill big buckets, then head to the kitchen to wash, sort, and can them together. It wasn’t just about the berries—it was about the love, the quiet conversations, the laughter, and the sense of being completely safe and seen. Those memories are some of the most treasured of my life.
When it came time to name this business, I kept returning to that feeling—of care, connection, and transformation. The juneberry felt like the perfect symbol: simple, resilient, and quietly beautiful. It grows in stages—bud, blossom, and fruit—just like we do through our own seasons of healing and growth.
That’s why the juneberry appears in the logo: to represent those stages, and to honor the journey each of us takes as we root, grow, and bloom into who we’re meant to be.
Juneberry is more than a name. It’s a memory, a tribute, and a reminder that growth can be gentle, healing can be sweet, and the smallest things can carry the deepest meaning.
